General information only
The content of this site is patient education. It describes the structures of the eye area, how a complaint is assigned to one of them, and what each option costs in time, recovery and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
No substitute for examination
Whether a bag under your eye is fluid or fat, how much of your lid position is skin and how much is muscle, whether your lower lid has the support an operation requires, and whether your eye is dry enough to change the plan are findings that can only be established by examining you. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
Results vary and are not guaranteed
Individual results differ, and no surgeon and no website can guarantee an outcome. Filling a hollow does not remove a pocket of fat, relaxing a muscle does not tighten skin, and removing skin does not raise a lid whose opening muscle is weak. Any statement that appears to promise more than that should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it.
If something is wrong after surgery
If you have had surgery around the eye and develop a lid that will not close, worsening pain, rapidly increasing swelling, bleeding, spreading redness, a change in your vision, or an eye that has become gritty, burning or unusually light-sensitive, contact the treating team or seek emergency care immediately rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
